Oaklands Museum, Chelmsford

On Monday hubby and I visited Oaklands Museum. Home of Grayson Perry's pot 'The Chelmsford Sissies'  there was also a fantastic collection of art, coins, ceramics, pottery and glass - alongside exhibitions about Community Life, The Story of Chelmsford and Natural Sciences. You can also visit The Essex Regiment Museum and The Essex Yeomanry. The museum is situated in Oaklands Park, off Moulsham Street in Chelmsford, Essex. Admission is free. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.

  2. I have mellowed (slightly) since Grayson/Clare won the Turner...I now see the point and would like to see his ceramics myself. It's great going into Edinburgh and seeing (for free) Degas, Monet, Cezanne, Renoir, Sergeant, Pisarro, Van Gogh etc... Art for the common people. I am qualified to say that, as I am very common. Enjoying the blog. Don't forget the cat. ;) Rob -->

  3. I don't really like the pot. It's quite tacky. There were some other really nice ceramics at the museum (not by Turner Prize winners).

I'm looking forward to visiting Edinburgh and seeing the galleries. Glad you like the blog RK. Might make the cat a bit more of a regular feature then. ;)
