Palma, Majorca, Spain

Hubby and I had a fantastic long weekend celebrating our 7th wedding anniversary in Palma, Majorca, Spain. A truly breathtaking city with amazing architecture, wonderful views, great places to eat and drink, cosmopolitan shops and plenty to see and do. We visited Palma Cathedral with its 61 stained glass windows. Port de Soller may be the nicest place I have EVER set eyes on. We took the wooden train through the mountains to Soller and then the little tram to the Port. Tapas lunch at So Caprichos overlooking the harbour. We also visited Can Prunera Museum, home to paintings and drawings by Picasso, Gauguin, Klee, Miro, Nolde and many more. The weather was very pleasant and we both enjoyed a much needed break and the wonderful Spanish culture. :)

Creative Craft Show, Essex

Yesterday, Cherry and I went to The Creative Craft Show at Five Lakes, Maldon, Essex. The show is predominantly aimed at papercraft, beading and stitching (not fine art or painting) but was still very inspiring. I was most taken with 'Decopatch' and treated myself to an MDF blank and some paper, more on that later. Cherry purchased some interesting bits too, but I won't spoil the surprise, so keep an eye on Cherry's blog to see what she creates. I also purchased a small cross stitch kit and some quirky star shaped buttons.

The day also gave Cherry and I a good opportunity to talk about the upcoming Community Pop-up Gallery Shop and throw some ideas around. I'm currently thinking pom poms!

'Stitch in Time' postcard

I haven't used my sewing machine for a while. My mum is an accomplished seamstress, and I grew up watching her make various clothing for the family and items for the home. Whilst I can sew fairly well and make some simple items on my sewing machine, as yet, I haven't managed to make my own clothing or anything elaborate. So I've been thinking about how to incorporate simple stitch into my land art.

The result? 'Stitch in Time' created in ink and thread. The sewing machine needle, minus its foot, tends to whizz off and do its own thing leaving me with a rather random mark making result, which I rather like. :)

'Frosted Berries' postcard

I've enjoyed working postcard size lately. Inspired by the cold weather, here is 'Frosted Berries', created in pen, ink and finished with a sprinkle of glitter.
