Maldon, Essex

Regular readers of my blog will know I love to visit Maldon in Essex. Hubby and I took the bus from Chelmsford to Maldon yesterday and we had a lovely walk around the town and Hythe Quay. We stopped at the fresh fish stall for mussels and anchovies and looked at all the boats moored on the river Blackwater. We then went for a drink at The Jolly Sailor and had dinner at the fab Intimo Restaurant.

Maldon Promenade Park has changed since I was a child. Mum and Dad would take my sister and I to the Marine Lake where there was a beach area and you could swim in the lake. Marine Lake is gone now. As part of the regeneration of that area, it is now a pond and wildlife area. I get quite nostalgic when I visit Maldon as it brings back happy childhood memories. Simple things like building sandcastles, eating ice cream and having a family picnic. Happy days! :)

  2. Yeah, I like the cat photo too - never eaten anchovies, not sure if they are actually better fresh than the tinned variety, though are they?

  3. Ahh It is a lovely place, I used to take my boys when they were little when it was the big lake.

Perfect place to be on a chilly day like today, all snug in a cosy pub. x

  4. Your post brings back memories to me....
I am a Maldon girl born and breed, and like you, know the prom well.

The museum in the park is also worth a visit.

They say you can take the girl out of Maldon, but you can't take Maldon out of the girl. In my case i think thats true.
Glad you had a nice day and just down the road.......xx
