Painting the Modern Garden, The Royal Academy, London
Hubby and I were lucky enough to be given complimentary tickets to 'Painting the Modern Garden: Monet to Matisse' at The Royal Academy of Arts, London. Using the work of Monet as a starting point, the exhibition examines the role gardens played in the evolution of art from the early 1860s through to the 1920s.
Featuring over 120 amazing artworks, including paintings by Renoir, Cezanne, Pissarro, Manet, Sargent, Kandinsky, Van Gogh, Matisse, Klimt and Klee - the exhibition was a masterclass in impressionist and floral painting. Fascinated by the brush work, use of colour and composition, it gave me just the inspiration I needed to complete my current landscape commission!
