It's Oh So Quiet!

I've been rather quiet on the blogging front this year for a few reasons.

Blogging can be incredibility hard to sustain on a regular basis. It is difficult to find interesting content to share with readers, especially when you focus on just one or two subjects.

I often wonder if anyone out there is actually 'listening' to me or if I am just talking to myself. I find a better rate of interaction from my posts on Twitter and Instagram. Maybe because these platforms are 'real time' and designed so that people can respond instantly. With blogging, I feel the moment has passed as soon as I post. Accessibility is also a factor. I can tweet, FB or insta from my phone or tablet in an instant, something I can't do with my blog.

Another reason is that I have become increasing involved with crafting projects which I don't tend to mention much on here. I co-run a small craft group and so have been spending much time trying out craft projects. You can see these on my Twitter and Instagram. Painting is my first love but crafting has become a relaxing outlet for me that I can share with others. I find being an artist a bit isolating, but crafting the complete opposite - and it is rewarding to share my skills and knowledge with others.

The remaining factor is time. Finding the time to write interesting posts that others will want to read. I've often been reduced to just posting a few photos and little written content, just to get something 'out there'.

However, I do see my blog as a kind of online journal. It's a great reference tool for me to look back at, chart progress and check information. So, where does this leave me? I've seen many bloggers walk away from their blogs at times like this. I don't feel the need to do that just yet, but I will be seriously thinking of where I take this blog in the new year. New design? Different or additional content? Any ideas are gratefully received ...
